1.  Declaration.

By submitting this application, I affirm that all information provided is accurate and truthful to the best of my knowledge. I understand and accept that providing false or misleading information may result in immediate disqualification from the delegate’s scholarship program and associated benefits that might be awarded to me. I further agree to abide by these terms and conditions in their entirety.

2.  Application Fee.

A mandatory, non-refundable application fee is required from all applicants across all our delegate categories. Applications will be considered incomplete and disqualified if the required fee is not paid or if the submission lacks critical information, especially that required to make credible candidate selections. By submitting this application and transacting the required application fee, applicants acknowledge and accept that this payment is non-refundable under any circumstances, including non-selection for the scholarship categories and the event in general.

3.  Fee-Related Disputes.

Applicants acknowledge that the application fee is non-refundable and agree not to contest its non-refundability, even if they are not selected for any of our scholarship categories or seats. ALEN assumes no responsibility for disputes related to fee payments. Applicants who are not awarded scholarships are encouraged to participate as self-funded delegates, with priority consideration for admission extended to them.

4.  Notification and Confirmation of Selection.

Successful applicants will be notified via email addresses provided in this application through our official email address. To secure their place, selected participants must confirm their attendance within the stipulated timeframe communicated in the notification email. Failure to confirm within this period will result in the automatic forfeiture of the placement and seat slot or scholarship, and the opportunity may be extended to another applicant placed on the waiting list.

5.  Use of Applicant Information for Promotional Purposes.

By applying, participants grant the organisers of this Event and ALEN at large the right to use their name, biography, photographs, and submitted materials for promotional purposes on our websites and all other media platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, publicity related to current and future events, social media promotions, and marketing materials. Participants agree that no compensation will be provided for such use.

6.  Data Protection and Privacy.

The organisers of this event and ALEN at large are committed to protecting the privacy of applicants following the Privacy Policy of the organisation. Personal information provided during the application process will be used strictly for evaluation and administrative purposes related to the Event being applied for. All personal data will be processed in compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations in both the organising entity’s jurisdiction and the hosting nation. By applying, participants consent to the collection and use of their personal data for these purposes.

7.  Finality of the Selection Process.

The selection process is conducted by an independent panel of judges comprising esteemed board members and representatives from some of our credible Partners from within and outside of Africa. All decisions made by the panel are final, binding, and not subject to negotiation or appeal under any given circumstances. Applicants acknowledge that the selection criteria and processes remain at the sole discretion of the panel and ALEN at large.

8.  Limitation of Liability.

ALEN and this Event organiser shall not be held liable for any loss, injury, damage, theft, or unforeseen circumstances that may arise during the event. Participants assume full responsibility for their personal belongings and safety. All participants are required to adhere to event safety regulations and instructions. The organising team will provide reasonable assistance in the event of an emergency but accepts no liability for outcomes beyond its control.

9.  Waiver of Legal Action and Defamation.

By participating in this application process, applicants irrevocably waive the right to pursue legal action against ALEN or its representatives concerning the non-refundability of the application fee or any other matter related to their application or participation. Furthermore, applicants agree not to engage in defamation, whether verbal, written, visual, or digital, against ALEN, its events, or its representatives. Any such defamation will result in immediate disqualification and potential legal proceedings, respectively.

10.  Governing Law and Jurisdiction.

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the hosting nation and the organizing entity’s jurisdiction. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in the hosting nation.
